For the first 2 weeks we did some very intensive drawing which gave us different exercises to try such as timed drawings, not looking at the drawing and using different media.
We have also just completed our workshops in print and stitch.

The brief for the project is 'reinventing the ordinary' which is so open you could literally apply it to anything. My ideas for the project started off by writing down some of the first things that came into my head:
Changing something. Changing something from what people are used to seeing. If you reinvent something, is the original thing you changed still there somewhere? What is ordinary? Ordinary means different things to different people. What some people are used to may not be what other people are used to.
I thought that all these things actually relate to drawing as everyone draws in different ways and styles and have their own quirks. There is not one set way of drawing any more, which allows everybody to be unique!
I want to 'reinvent' or develop my drawing style. I will do this by using a photograph and drawing it in many many different ways. So in effect I am also reinventing the photograph!
This is the photograph I am thinking of using, I took this when I was travelling in Italy in the Cinque Terre, I chose this photograph as it was my favourite place in Italy! |
